Founded on September 7, 2017 — Moving Ethiopia Toward Financial Safety. CAFS — Centre for Advancement of Financial Safety — was established on 07 September 2017 with a clear purpose: to strengthen financial protection, support digital security, and promote fair access to financial services for all Ethiopians.

Over the years, we have:

Assisted communities in understanding financial risks and digital fraud Conducted awareness campaigns on safe mobile payments and consumer rights Supported vulnerable groups affected by financial scams

Collaborated with local institutions to improve transparency and accountability

Helped citizens navigate issues related to digital wallets and financial service providers

Built a platform for education, advocacy, and community protection

From day one, our commitment has remained the same — to create a safer, more transparent, and more responsible financial environment in Ethiopia.

1. Strengthen Financial Rights Protection

Ensure citizens are protected from fraud, abuse, and unfair financial practices by promoting awareness, legal support, and responsible financial behavior.

2. Advance Digital Safety & Cyber Awareness

Support the public in understanding digital risks, secure mobile payments, and safe use of financial technologies, reducing vulnerability to scams and cyber-threats.

3. Promote Transparency & Accountability in Financial Services

Work with institutions, regulators, and communities to improve fairness, openness, and trust within Ethiopia’s financial ecosystem.

Why CAFS Matters — Protecting Ethiopia’s Financial Future

In today’s fast-growing digital economy, millions of Ethiopians rely on mobile payments, online banking, and digital financial services. With opportunity comes risk — fraud, scams, data misuse, and a lack of awareness often leave citizens unprotected.

CAFS (Centre for Advancement of Financial Safety) was created to address these challenges.
